Horsethief & Horseshoe Canyon – Drumheller, AB
Posted by Jeff in Photography, Photography: Landscapes | April 29, 2012Beautiful scenery and fairly close to home. These badlands are located just outside Drumheller, Alberta and are a must see at one point in your life. Some of the most significant fossil discoveries ever made from the Age of Reptiles have been discovered in Dinosaur Provincial Park and the surrounding badlands area. Horseshoe and Horsethief canyon is very rich in fossils with some 35 species of dinosaurs. Some dating back over 70 million years.
Since I was in the area, I stopped by the Atlas Coal Mine Historical Site. It’s a pretty neat place with a lot of old coal mine machinery and buildings. It’s one of the most complete coal mining museums in Canada.
